Statistics department was established in 1985. The main objective of the department is to provide statistical education and job opportunities related to statistics to all students including socially deprived, underprivileged and economically weaker section of the society. Every year Statistical Society of topper students in subject Statistics is formed for conducting various departmental activities like Statistical Quiz Competition, Projects, Poster Presentation and Competition .
Department Profile
The intake capacity of the department is 20. Our department is well equipped and well furnished. It has 50 digital calculators, Computer system and LCD projector. We have highly qualified and experienced teaching faculties. Department has heritage of meritorious students at U. G. levels.
Teaching and Learning process of the department is through lectures, practicals, home assignments, projects, posters and question-answer method with the effective use of ICT’s.

Poster Presentation and Competition
During the academic year 2019-20, department of statistics has performed various activities for the academic benefit of B.Sc. students. A programme of Poster Presentation and Competition was organized for the students of B.Sc. II-3S and B.Sc.III-5S students on 11th October, 2019. The inauguration of poster competition and also of Statistical Society was held at the hands of chief guest Dr. H.S.Lunge, Associate Professor, Department of Statistics, Shri Shivaji Science College,Amravati and in the presence of Principal Dr. D.S.Dhote. The students of B.Sc. presented their posters on various themes on various topics of applied statistics. About 20 students of B.Sc.II-3S and 21 students of B.Sc.III-5S participated in the poster competition.
From B.Sc.II-3S, Ku.Ujwala Banewar secured 1st prize; Ku.Vishakha Kawade of B.Sc.II-3S secured 2nd prize; Ku.Disha Patil of B.Sc.III-5S got 3rd prize for their posters. In this competition Ku.Dhanashri Wankhade of B.Sc.II-3S got consolation prize.

Guest lecture
A guest lecture of Dr.H.S.Lunge, Associate Professor, Department of Statistics, Shri Shivaji Science College, Amravati was organized on 11th October, 2019 on topic “Importance of Statistics”. He said that the role of statistics becomes essential to draw conclusion for the available data. Statistics is useful in every sphere of human activity. The lecture was largely attended by students of B.Sc.I-1S, B.ScII-3S, and B.Sc III-5S. Students appreciated and enjoyed the lecture very much.

Statistical Quiz Competition
During the academic year 2019-20, department of statistics has performed various activities for the academic benefit of B.Sc. students. A programme of Statistical Quiz Competition was organized for the students of B.Sc. I-1S and B.Sc.II-3S on 11th October, 2019. 4 groups of students consisting 2 members (2 boys & 2 girls) were selected from students of B.Sc. I-1S and B.Sc.II-3S in Ist round. About 30 students of B.Sc.I-1S and 25 students of B.Sc.II-3S participated in Ist round. These 4 groups were participated in IInd & IIIrd round of the competition.
From B.Sc.II-3S, Ritesh G. Tiwari secured 1st prize; Ku. Aishwarya R Saraf of B.Sc.I-1S secured 2nd prize.
