Bio-Technology


The Department of Biotechnology, was established in 2005 is one of the leading Departments in the field of teaching and research in various fields of sciences. The College has started three year full time undergraduate course Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) since 2005 with intake of 50 students which has increased up to 120 students till today. The College has started another courses i.e. Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Biotechnology. We have experienced teaching faculties. Our Department has Ligase Club Society which organizes various Departmental activities like Quiz Competition, Projects, Poster Presentation and Drawing Competition, Workshop, hands on training, Seminar to develop the interest and skills of students.

Department of Biotechnology

The mission of the Biotechnology Department is to provide its students with an education that establishes a strong foundation and appreciation for understanding the development in rapidly advancing field of Biotechnology, to develop technologies, devices and system that require substantive expertise in Biology, Agriculture, Pharmaceutical, Industrial, as well as Clinical research components. It is a fast emerging Cutting edge science with distinctive advantages as it finds application in practically all aspects of life. This program develops human capital for Biopharmaceutical Industries, Advanced Scientific Research and Entrepreneurship. The subject offers exciting opportunities in various fields from basic research to an industry oriented career.

PowerPoint Presentation for B.Sc III 2019-08-19 88 Department of Biotechnology arranged a PowerPoint presentation activity for the students of B.Sc. III (BTB, BTZ) on 19 August 2019-23 August 2019, respectively in the laboratory of Biotechnology during practical timing. The topic of PowerPoint presentation was totally based on the syllabus of B.ScIII year (Sem-V). Students choose different topics related to their syllabus like Animal Tissue culture, Media Use for ATC, Instruments Used in ATC, Cryopreservation, Amniocentesis, etc. All the students made presentation and explained very enthusiastically. The students have given 15mins to explain the topic and last 5min for query session in which students ask questions on related topics. The main aim of taking this activity was to provoke stage daring and build up the confidence level and share their views regarding their topic. This activity also helpful to the students for participating in different competitions on National and International level.

Drawing Competition of for B.Sc I, B.Sc II and B.Sc III 2020-02-29 30 Department of Biotechnology arranged a "On Spot Drawing Competition" activity for the students of B.Sc I, B.Sc II and B.Sc. III (BTB, BTZ) on 29 February 2020. In Drawing Competition the students presented there creativeness on given topics within given time. The judges examined the drawing. After examined all the Drawing, the result of Drawing Competition was announced the prize distributed to the winners.

One Day Educational Visit to P.D.M.C., Amravati 2019-09-04 65 Department of Biotechnology had arranged the visit to PDMC, Amravati for B.Sc (BTB, BTZ) students. During the visit students got the knowledge about the different organs and importance of Organ Donation. The doctors of PDMC explained the importance of organs and how important it’s to donate the organ. Then the doctors explain about organs and show the live organs to the students. The organs like Brain, Heart, Lungs, Kidney, Liver, etc was seen by the students & also get the knowledge about all those organs by the doctors. At last the individual demonstration on how to handle the organs was given to students by the interns.

Poster Presentation for B.Sc II 2019-08-22 86 Department of Biotechnology arranged a poster presentation activity for the students of B.Sc. II (BTB) and (BTZ) in the laboratory of Biotechnology during practical timing. The topics of poster presentation were totally based on the syllabus of II year. All the students made poster and explained very enthusiastically with the help of diagrams. The main aim of taking this activity was to provoke stage daring and build up the confidence level and share their views regarding their syllabus.

Power Point Presentation 2020-02-03 75 Department of Biotechnology arranged a Power Point Presentation activity for the students of B.Sc. III in the laboratory of Biotechnology during practical timing. Some students from Shri. Shivaji science College,Amravati also give the presentation. The topic of power point presentation were Anther culture, micro-propagation, apical dominance, protoplast isolation, selection of hybrid cells & various methods of genetic manipulations totally based on the syllabus of III year. All the students made PPT and explained very enthusiastically. The main aim of taking this activity was to provoke stage daring and build up the confidence level and share their views regarding their syllabus.

Visit To Anjali Industries, MIDC Amravati 2020-02-10 86 Department of Biotechnology had arranged the visit to Anjali Industries, MIDC Amravati for B.Sc I (BTB,BTZ) students. During the visit we visited whole plant and Mr. Wallecha explain us protocol of milk pasteurization, filter, Storing and Packing the products. He told us that first the milk is Homogenized then pasteurization of milk done, then the milk is pack in packets and then it is ready to sell. Then they explain how the fermentation products are made and also explain the process of making the paneer. The purpose of educational visit is to increases the student’s knowledge in the Biotechnology field.
