Department of Mathematics was established in the year 1972 under the headship of Dr. Gandhi with B.Sc. having Mathematics as one of the core subject. The department has presently two sanctioned teaching staff comprising of two Assistant Professors. Our department offers B.Sc. with Mathematics and (since 1972)M.Sc. in Mathematics started since 2018-19 session. The M.Sc. programme is of two years duration with four semesters. Our curriculum is research as well as job oriented and it follows CBCS guidelines. The Research Areas of our faculties are Theory of Relativity, Theories of Gravitation etc. Dr. P. R. Agrawal, Head of the Department is recognized as a supervisor for M. Phil. / Ph. D. guidance.

Apart from regular class room teaching, the department is offering IIT-JAM/SET/NET/GATE guidance to the students. Department has given attention on student’s personality development. As a part of it, department organizes seminars, group discussions, mathematical intelligence test etc. This makes them bold enough for facing interviews in different government and corporate sectors. Our faculty members as well as our students are well equipped with core knowledge of mathematics.
As part of mission, the department shall continue to provide disciplined, caring and ethical environment that encourages the student and staff to be at their best.

On 22nd December 2019, the Department of mathematics celebrated National Mathematics Day, i.e., the Birth Anniversary of the great Mathematician, Srinivas Ramanujan. Mr. G.H Gandhi, Ex- Head, Department of Mathematics, Brijlal Biyani Science College, as the Chief Guest Dr. D.S.Dhote, Principal and mathematics Staff and Students were present. Mr. Gandhi was felicitated on the occasion. A poster exhibition on Life and Work of Ramanujan, exhibition of Mathematical Models and Shows on Mathematics was organized by the Department for two days 22nd -23rd December 2019 for all the schools of the city. Students from 6 different schools visited the exhibition and it was wonderful response with 1000+ visitors.

Brijlal Biyani Science College, Amravati’s Department of Mathematics has successfully organized an Inaugural function of Mathematical Society on 22 October 2020.
The Mathematical Society was inaugurated with auspicious lamp lighting to Sant Gadge Baba and Shri Brijlalji Biyani, the founder of this institution at the hands of Dr.D.S. Dhote, Principal, Brijlal Biyani Science College, Amravati was present as Inaugurator and Chief Guest. Dr. P. R. Agrawal, Head of the mathematics department Brijlal Biyani science college, Mr. H.G. Paralikar, Asst. Professor, Department of Mathematics and Mr.Kunal Sawai, Ms.Gayatri Dhole president and secretary of mathematical society respectively were also present on the dais.

Dr. P. R. Agrawal presented her introductory remarks, in which she pioneered the respected dignitaries on the dais. She stressed on the aim and objective for making the mathematical society and inspired the team to sow a dream in the hearts of the students of aspiring beautiful and successful future in Mathematics.
After felicitation of guests and teachers Dr. D.S. Dhote presented his gratitude towards dignitaries of the dais and expressed the importance of celebrating such days and bringing about the awareness of importance Mathematics to the society also accepted that without learning Mathematics our knowledge remains incomplete. He also said that the institution will always support such student centric activities which aims at the progress and development of the students.
Mathematical Rangoli competition was organised for all the students of BSc and MSc of Mathematics Department. To commemorate the National Mathematics Day, an awareness e-quiz was also taken through google forms, which received a wonderful response
Only committee Members attended this program offline by maintaining social distance and rest of the students attended via online zoom app due to covid-19 pandemic.

Mathematical Rangoli Competition

On 22 of December 2020, Mathematical Rangoli Competition was conducted for B.Sc.-I, B.Sc.-II and B.Sc.-III, M.Sc.-I, M.Sc.-II, students of Mathematics. Students actively participated in the competition.
Competition was held using online platform (Google form) with the presence of Dr. P.R Agrawal (Head of Department) and Mr. H.G.Paralikar (Assistant Professor), Mr. A.R Gulalkari, Mr. M.S Kute.
The theme of this Competition was “MATHEMATICAL RANGOLI”. Participants were registered themselves through Google form and competition held completely online where Participants have to draw rangali and take a picture of Mathematical Rangoli and Selfie with the rangoli and attached those pictures to Google form.
As a result of this competition 3 pairs grabbed attraction of judges by their beautiful rangolis. The participants Ku.Dharti Kharapkar bagged the first position, Ku. Kiran Nawade was placed at 2nd position, Ku. Gargi Raut was at 3rd positon and felicitated them by Certificate.
The Honorable judges for the Mathematical Rangoli Competition were Dr. P.R. Agrawal & Mr. H. G. Paralikar

Online National Level Awareness e- Quiz On Indian Mathematicians was organized by the Department of Mathematics, Brijlal Biyani Science College , Amravati on 22nd December 2020 for UG and PG Students on the occasion of account of national mathematics day .
On 22 of December 2020, Mathematical e-quiz Competition was conducted for B.Sc. I, B.Sc. II and B.Sc. III ,Msc. I , Msc.II ,students of Mathematics to encourage the students and widen their knowledge. Students actively participated in the competition.
The entire program was organized using GOOGLE FORM. The registration link was posted on 18th May 2020.
Overall 166 students enrolled through the link for the national level contest from various Colleges and Universities of India. The online test was started at 10 am with duration of 1 hours. There were 15 MCQ for each participants and each question carried 1 mark for the correct answer on Famous Indian Mathematician and The students who scored 50% and above received online Certificate via Certify’em. This online Quiz was designed to serves the purpose of a brief assessment to gauge the basic knowledge of Indian Mathematician.

In current times, Quantitative Aptitude tests have become the norm for almost all competitive exams in India. Such aptitude questions are included in all exams to measure a candidate’s accuracy of calculations, mental numerical ability and logical formula application.
